It took extra innings in the American League Wild Card in 2014, but it was well worth the wait.
With the game tied at 8-8, Kansas City's All-Star catcher stepped to the plate against Oakland's hard throwing reliever with a runner on second and two outs in the bottom of the 12th. The next pitch would send Kauffman Stadium into a frenzy....a hard hit ground ball down the third baseline got past Oakland's diving third baseman and rolled into left field, scoring the runner from second and helping Kansas City advance to the American League Division Series with a 9-8 victory thanks to a memorable walk-off.
They don't call it the "Wild" Card for nothing.
