Stole the Ball! (Havlicek)
At 5 seconds left in game 7 of the conference finals, the home team’s lead was down to just a single point (110-109). One of Philadelphia's Hall of Famers inbounded the ball from beneath his own basket, the likely target his giant center, still the top scorer in the history of the game. Instead, he found another seemingly wide-open teammate. But the home team’s career point leader and cagey defender lurked, a few feet off the direct line, and timing his surprise perfectly, stole the ball. Said one of the sport’s most famous radio announcers (Johnny Most) of one of the sport’s most famous plays and players, “Havlicek stole the ball! It’s all over! Johnny Havlicek stole the ball!”
