Fumblerooski (Nebraska vs. Miami)

In this New Year’s Day clash of titans, the planned and controversial play fooled everyone – the defense, the announcers and the fans. Down 17-0 in the second quarter, the quarterback took the snap from center, but intentionally “fumbled” the ball so that it was placed in a convenient spot for the offensive guard to scoop it up and run it (19 yards) into the endzone. While sparking a rally, the team ultimately fell short 31-30, ending its perfect season and losing the national championship game. So controversial is the play, it was banned by college football following the 1992 season.
