Impressive Sideline Catch (Walsh to Irvin)

Huge in-state rivals, the nation’s third and fourth ranked teams each gave it their all that day. Tied up with 2:22 left to play, the #3 ranked visiting team’s star wide receiver took a “10 Yard Out” play 73-yards down the sideline for a stunning TD, forging a 26-19 lead. The home team scored on a final drive with little time remaining to bring the deficit to a single point and made the gutsiest of calls: to go for the 2-point conversion and the win. They came up short. The visitors would win this one, end the season with a perfect 12-0 record and take home the national championship to Miami. Playmaker: David H.
