Bird Beanball (Johnson)

The Hall of Fame flame thrower is one of the all-time greats. The career strikeout leader with his 6’10” frame brought fear to batter, beast and bird. This was proven in the 7th inning of a preseason game when one very, very unlucky bird flew into the strike zone where it met a full-bodied 95 MPH fastball. Some say it was a pigeon. Others say it was a seagull. Pulverized, it landed dead amid a “sea of feathers.” This official call was a “no pitch.” The feathers strewn about indicated otherwise. Playmaker: Pete C.
