Hail Mary (BC vs. Miami)
A miracle play for this Catholic college against its bitter rival, it has been called one of the most memorable moments in all of sports, defining greatness, good fortune, and the stuff of legend. A statue outside the college’s stadium commemorates this moment: Trailing 45-41 with one second remaining in the game, the 10th ranked visiting team’s QB launched a 65 yard bomb that was somehow caught in all the mayhem by a receiver in the end zone, stealing victory from the rival whose fans had already begun celebrating a win that would never be. The play cements this popular QB’s place as a hometown icon and hero. A "one-pass" wonder in college? Far from it! He would go on to win the Heisman Trophy, and was the first Division I quarterback to surpass 10,000 passing yards.
