Kicker For Six (Georgia Tech vs. Clemson)

Ranked 15th in the nation and already leading their opponent 14-0, the home team had a 4th & 13 on their opponent’s 34-yard line. They could either attempt a long field goal, or punt the ball. They immediately ran the field goal unit onto the field, setting quickly, and on the ref’s whistle the ball was directly snapped to - and caught by - the kicker. In all the confusion, the defense did not account for the receiver on the far sideline. The kicker threw a wobbly ball down the sideline to the undefended wide receiver who caught the ball and walked freely into the end zone for the score, extending the lead to 21. That same kicker who had thrown his first ever TD earlier in the game would go on to kick the game winning 36-yard field goal with 57 seconds remaining to give the home team a 30-27 win in front of a whiteout-clad fan base.
