Franz Beckenbauer is known throughout the football world as one of the best players ever. Known as, Der Kaiser, The Emperor, he was given the nickname because of goals like this free kick against Duisburg in 1974.
During Bundesliga play, Bayern Munchen was visiting Duisburg. With the score 0 - 0 after 20 minutes of play, a free kick was given to Bayern just outside of the box. As two of their players positioned themselves around the ball, one ran past the ball as a distraction while Beckenbauer lined up his shot. With a ferocious right outstep he sent the ball spinning around the heads of the defenders in the wall in front of him, past the fingers of the outstretched goalie, and into the top right of the net.
